April newsletter from Lee and Carol Short:  When you are pastoring the poor; it means checking in and checking on those that have been faithful but have dropped out because life has thrown them a curve. We were sitting on wooden planks and 5 gallon plastic buckets, praying for a baby with an infected eardrum and for the other two families represented there. I visited a woman who was in shock because her brother-in-law was violently abducted from his home and there has been no word as to his whereabouts or welfare. I ministered on a Thursday night to a poor congregation, and they received the word of God with joy and
thanksgiving.

Back at the community center, we have focused on 2 Corinthians 5:17; becoming a new creation in Christ Jesus… It is pure joy to quiz the kids and hear them tell me in their own words the truths that I have been teaching them. Recently we launched our Video Bible School at a church in the town of Pitillal on a Sunday during their 9am Sunday School. Church started at 10:15 and after several hours of worship, their guest Gringo preacher (Lee) finished preaching at 2:00pm. The service ended with an eruption of applause,
some with tears in their eyes and some with big smiles on their faces. Lee smiled and said they were glad they could finally go to the bathrooms. In Mexico, church isn’t over till it’s over. On my way home, I stopped by to check in on a fellow minister who is going through a major transition and prayed with him and his wife. It’s refreshing to be able to be in a culture where you can still make house calls. Carol and I are grateful for your faithful prayers and support that make it possible for us to minister. Thank you. Together we make
a difference.
